From the very beginning, I’ve adored the epic journey Zylah goes on. And with this conclusion? It’s like Victoria has scattered all of the stars across a night sky just for us. This. Is. Magical. So before I give you an overview for this beautiful book, make sure you check out my thoughts on where it all began here! Now, are you ready to fall in love? Let’s go!
Zylah’s world has never been more grim. Now a captive, she’s at the mercy of someone she used to call a friend. But Zylah will never stop fighting to be free, and she’s determined that she will get revenge for all that’s occurred, as well as being reunited with everything (and everyone) she’s lost. But just as Zylah finds her way out of a deadly maze, a dark power is set to consume the realm. Can Zylah find a way to defeat this rising evil? Who will stand with her against the deadliest of foes? Fate is calling, but is it for her success or her death?
Happiness Boost:
Full confession: Victoria *did* warn me about a death in A Legacy of Wrath and Reckoning, because she knows it can be hard for me to read about grief. But did I still cry an *incredible* amount of tears? I sure did! I had to put the book down for the night; I couldn’t see the words on the page! But I’ve put this in my happiness boosts for a reason, glitterbugs. There’s some authors for whom you would take every heartache, every single speck of grief and be grateful for it. Victoria is one of these authors for me. I’m in awe of how this NA fantasy will completely wring your heart and yet continue to give you pure joy.
It wouldn’t be a tale in this series if I didn’t mention our animal sidekicks. Victoria, I’d like to journey with Kopi the owl and a cyon wolf, please and thank you! Add to that *all* of the other side characters who’ve journeyed alongside Zylah? This cast is a found family you want to have on your side. They are fierce, protective, and loyal to a fault. Victoria weaves every single one of their threads together like a master, and I’m in love. As you might have guessed from my first happiness boost, not every character will survive. But even as she makes me cry a ridiculous amount, Victoria makes this a fitting finale. War means there will be goodbyes. To do otherwise is just not an option.
A Legacy of Wrath and Reckoning does everything right. It really does. But one of the things I loved the most? How Zylah adapts to her new reality, without bitterness overshadowing everything. I’m not sure I could be that well-adjusted, but the way she handles things thrown at her with such composure and pure grit? She’s my idol and I am so grateful Victoria gives us a heroine like her. I’m telling you right now, give me *anything* Victoria writes, because I’ll love it!
Downside:
It’s the end of the series! But is there a proper downside, you ask? Nope!
