An Empath’s Guide to Overcoming Your Demons is an incredible urban romantasy, pulling at the emotions of the reader with Mel’s sense of drowning from her empath abilities and family’s expectations. It must be exhausting, to feel everything so deeply, and this resonated so strongly with me. The fact that Mel persists in pushing through the darkness, plus her determination to find something joyous in as much of her life as she can? This witch is iconic.
Listen, you can give me a morally grey hero any day and I’m going to be one very happy bookworm! And Ash? He’s been alive for half a century, but I love that Mel can introduce him to so much more than he ever knew. It started with a fake date, but that really is just the beginning to what occurs between our duo in An Empath’s Guide to Overcoming Your Demons. The stakes (if you’ll forgive the pun) are high, the emotions are devastating, and a slow-burn heat simmers throughout these pages.
I’ve long been a fan of Rae Else (The Dark Between is *such* a good read), and this paranormal fantasy just reinforces why she’s an auto-buy author for me! If you want a tale that will make you laugh, break your heart, and then leave you aching for the next book in a series of standalones? This really is the book for you. Trust me, it’s amazing.
