A massive thank you goes to Book Sirens and Sarah Chislon for letting me read an e-ARC of Binding Silver, the third instalment in the Blood of the Fae series! This gaslamp fantasy continues to deliver nothing short of perfection and I am *so* excited to tell you why I think that. But first, let’s give you an overview!
Mortals have always been told, never bargain with the fae… So when Jessa’s sister Ainslie reveals that she’s unwittingly made one? Jessa will do anything to find the fae who holds her sister’s fate in their hands. But without warning, Ainslie disappears. And it’s not only Jessa’s sister who is vanishing across the kingdom… Desperate to save her sister and everyone else who’s been taken against their will, Jessa once again joins forces with Riven, the fae arbiter. But can Jessa survive a quest that will see her mingle with fae during their dangerous midsummer hunt? Will her family survive what’s ahead, when secrets are finally revealed? How far can she push her alliance with Riven before even that turns to dust?
Happiness Boost:
I did tell you at the beginning, Binding of Silver is nothing short of perfection. And I stand by that statement, because a more comforting, cosy read I have yet to experience! This gaslamp fantasy is not only filled with the delights of the Regency Era you experience with Jane Austen, but also the capricious and bewildering chaos of the fae. Such a dangerous, exhilarating path through the social etiquette of the mortal realm and wild trickery of the Other just thrills my heart. I’m honestly at a loss for words on how to sum up my love for the world we experience alongside Jessa, but it is perfection. Hand on my heart: *perfection*.
You will never hear a bad word from me, regarding Jessa and Riven. Their alliance, in fact their friendship, is a bond that warms my heart. Because no matter how things transpire, no matter what challenges they face… Their strength is in their communication and willingness to listen. Is there trouble along the way? Of course! But I adore their protective nature towards each other, and the fact that they can be so open and honest, in a world which would see that bond obliterated if given the chance.
Within Bonding of Silver, there’s a mystery surrounding not only the vanishing mortals, but also Jessa’s mother. And with such mysteries and magic surrounding the characters? Sarah has weaved the tapestry of this gaslamp fantasy to a level I have *never* read before. This is not just a comfort read, because it’s so much more. This is a book that actually stands on par with Anne of Green Gables for me. And that book? It’s imprinted on my soul.
Downside:
I have no downside for this, I just wish I had the next instalment in my hands right now!

Binding of Silver by Sarah Chislon is a gaslamp fantasy full of magic, mystery and the powerful bond of family. I’m so in love with this story, I honestly can’t hype it enough.
