Have I been blessed by the bookish deities and received an ARC of Blood So Brutal, an incredible NA fantasy romance by Emily Blackwood? I certainly have! And am I as in love with it as I was with Wings So Wicked, the first book in the Huntyr x Wolf duet of the Golden City series? Ah glitterbugs… That would be telling, before we even get to my happiness boosts. So let’s just give you the overview first, shall we?
When Huntyr reached The Golden City, she thought her life was meant to get better. Instead, she’s now held hostage by an archangel who wants her power above all else. Amongst the plans he has to ensure this? He’s made sure she must wed Wolf, despite her intense hatred for the male. But little does Huntyr know, Wolf’s playing a long game. He will stop at nothing to see Huntyr free, even if it means she would sooner kill him than breathe the same air. Can they both survive the insidious evil of The Golden City? How far has this corruption gone? Will Huntyr and Wolf find common ground before it’s too late?
Happiness Boost:
Blood So Brutal is a fantasy romance which just never stops giving! There’s betrayal, broken hearts, bombshells and oh so much more… How on earth can so much be packed into one story?! I know there’s apparently 404 pages to this exquisite tale, but I swear it didn’t feel anywhere close to that. I am *so* in love with Emily’s writing, and desperately need to read everything else she’s ever written.
Can we talk about our beloved Huntyr and Wolf for a moment? This duo are put through so, so much… And do you know what I love most about them? Even at their very lowest, both of our main characters find a way to get back up. I love that Emily makes sure it’s not easy, that there’s no miraculous recovery; this duo have to put in the hard yards, fighting through tears, sweat and blood to rise again. But they do it. They are inspirational, and I’ll hear no argument.
Glitterbugs, I really don’t know what else I can say about Blood So Brutal without giving away spoilers. And of course I don’t want to do that! But honestly, you have no idea just how much I’m buzzing after reading this story… I have adored every single second of this fantasy romance! Yes, that even includes the moments when I’m screaming at the pages in horror. It’s a wild adventure, but one I’ve been absolutely delighted to go on.
Downside:
I have no downside for this gorgeous tale!

Blood So Brutal by indie author Emily Blackwood is a fantasy romance full of betrayals, terrifying revelations and an intense love. You know it’s good when you’ve spent the day reading but feel like it’s only been half an hour!
