Plot twist, glitterbugs: I’m coming to you today with no December 2025 Book Goals! I know, I know… Who am I, and what have I done with Anne. In fact, you may have noticed that things went a bit quiet for November, too.
Rest assured, I haven’t suddenly stopped reading! In fact, I finally devoured Quicksilver last month (and loved it), amongst a number of comfort re-reads. But between looking after a recovering floof since her emergency vet visit in October, and dealing with significant damage to our house (thanks to a terrifying hail storm on November 1st)… Suffice to say, my attention has been needed elsewhere.
So why am I writing to you today? Well, I couldn’t very well see out 2025 without at least one more post on Immersed in Books, now could I? And even though I’d love to write and review some glorious tales I’ve read in the past couple of months, my brain power isn’t quite there yet. So ta-da, you’re getting this random life update instead!

Goodbye, 2025…
Friends, it’s been a rollercoaster year. 2025 saw me say goodbye to my beautiful guardian floof George, due to kidney disease. And yes, I cried buckets. He was a very special cat, to say the least. But this year also gave me the opportunity to do a number of road trips with my bestie, firstly to meet the amazing Helen in person, and then my incredible friend Mel (who creates the most gorgeous polymer clay dragons). I have known both of these ladies since 2018, so the tackle hugs have been a long time coming!
Along the way, the PA adventures have continued to deliver all sorts of fun shenanigans—and thanks to it, I’ve also made a few more friends… Honestly I don’t know what I did before this, without some of them in my life! Did 2025 also threaten to take away George’s sibling, Lu? Yes, yes it did. But vets are miracle workers, and I’m so grateful. And even though November saw parts of our home obliterated by 9cm hail (including the solar panels and window), it could have been so much worse. It still hurts, because no one wants their home damaged. But overall we’ve been fairly lucky, and I’m just hoping we don’t fare any worse throughout the long summer ahead. As it is, we are just one of many across Queensland who are in contact with our insurers.
So with all this said? I hope the end of 2025 is a wonderful one for you, glitterbugs. And I’m keeping everything crossed that 2026 is more gentle on our hearts… I think we’ve done our time, am I right?
Happy reading, friends. I’ll see you in the New Year…
