December Books RECAP

December Books Recap: cover images of 6 books are superimposed over a dusky rose background and flowers. These images are: (top row, L to R) The Witch in the Well by Camilla Bruce, The Foxes of Warwick by Edward Marston, Lux by Rae Else. Bottom row: A Spindle Splintered by Alix E. Harrow, The Gilded Mirror by K. E. Barden, Beckoning of the Gate by Benjamin J. Ryan.

My December Books Recap *almost* stuck to the December Book Goals, so that’s got to be a win for the last month of 2022, right? I’m definitely celebrating, anyway! The fantasy genre had a big month here at Immersed in Books, and for the most part every single story was a 5 star read. That’s pretty impressive, if I do say so myself…

December Books Recap: cover images of 3 books are superimposed over a dusky rose background and flowers. These books are: Kingdom of Chaos: Becoming Fae by J. J. Smeck, Rise and Reverence by Rebecca Camm, An Enchantment of Ravens by Margaret Rogerson.
This December Books Recap is full of so many stories to love…

You may notice that in this December Books Recap there are actually links to two books which didn’t appear on my blog. As they were both two star reads for me, I’ve linked to their Goodreads reviews instead. But with seven of the nine bookish links below a fantasy, I really hope you’ll find something new to love!

So without further ado, here’s some book review goodness:

The Witch in the Well: Camilla Bruce

The Foxes of Warwick: Edward Marston

Lux: Rae Else

A Spindle Splintered: Alix E. Harrow

The Gilded Mirror: K. E. Barden

Beckoning of the Gate: Benjamin J. Ryan

The Kingdom of Chaos – Becoming Fae: J. J. Smeck

Rise and Reverence: Rebecca Camm

An Enchantment of Ravens: Margaret Rogerson

And the 2022 Favourite Read Goes To…

December Books Recap includes my favourite read of 2022. A hardcover of To Wield a Crown by Helen Scheuerer is on a white bookshelf, flanked by A Lair of Bones and The Fabric of Chaos by the same author.
To Wield a Crown by Helen Scheuerer had to be my favourite read of 2022…
It was the perfect culmination of Roh’s story!

Are any of us surprised that To Wield a Crown by Helen Scheurer is my favourite read for the year? Truthfully it was a toss up between this and its predecessor, The Fabric of Chaos. I said it in my review (which you can read here), but I’ll say it again… Helen writes with a comprehensive richness, taking us from the very bottom of the lair of bones, all the way to the heights of Valli’s soaring form in the air. There is no other author I would dive into battle for, but for Helen I would! I just cannot state enough how *beautifully* she writes epic fantasy. If you love fantasy and haven’t read her stories before? This is the sign you need to begin!

Goodbye, 2022…

I’m switching things up a little, by adding this here. But from the bottom of my heart glitterbugs, thank you for joining me on my book blog journey this year. I honestly didn’t know what to expect of it, but you’ve made me feel so welcome in the community, and I’ve made some amazing new friends. I truly hope that we can all walk into 2023 with a lightness and a little flicker of hope for all the good things to come.

And that’s a wrap, glitterbugs!

Happy reading, dear bookworms. And stay tuned for more reviews in 2023…
