Glitterbugs, I can cheerfully confirm that my February 2026 Books Recap will show that the wheels fell off in my life (again). But I bet you didn’t expect the cheerful sentiment, did you? I’m trying out this new approach, where I pretend my bookish heart can be mellow and just roll with the chaos of life. Because yes, I had achievable February Book Goals, but a certain cat threw another spanner in the works. So shall we dive in??

My poor little blog has been neglected, as you can tell from the sole review below. It doesn’t mean I stopped reading, but the task of reviewing certainly took a backseat to reality this month. Does that make me less of a reader? I don’t think so. But it does mean Immersed in Books was once more populated only by tumbleweeds, rather than bookish goodness.

Shadow’s Price: Amelia MacLeod
Let me be very honest here friends, when Lu is hurt? My life revolves around her, even more so than usual. This month, Lu decided to gain a head wound. And then she proceeded to gain an infection, despite the antibiotics in her system. There’s been a number of adventures with the cone of shame, grooming her while she was unable to do it herself (I’m still not forgiven), and pure exhaustion from yours truly setting in.
I hope we’ve turned a corner in her recovery, but I’ve learned not to say that too loudly. Lu would take that as a gauntlet thrown down in front of her, and she wouldn’t hesitate to pick it up. All I know is that I’ve learned a lot more about cats, and also why my hard-earned title of “Dr” is well and truly the wrong kind for dealing with injured patients.
And the February Favourite Read Goes To…
Obviously the favourite read for my February 2026 Books Recap goes to Amelia’s beautiful story! Trust me, any tale that can garner a review amongst the chaos means it is exceptionally good.
Like I said in my review for Shadow’s Price, our heroine isn’t just a morally grey character… She has been a walking red flag. But this romantasy is about redemption, just as it’s a reclamation of power and agency. Full of villains, broken promises, and a seemingly impossible quest, I promise you won’t want to miss out on this tale.
