“You play a dangerous game, kitten.”

M. A. Frick

Overview:

When I was given an ARC of Forcing Fate by indie author M. A. Frick, I really didn’t expect to find myself a new auto-buy author. But oh my goodness, have I ever! This NA fantasy romance is exactly what I’ve been searching for, with my favourite trope of enemies to lovers at the heart of the story. I’m in love with Avyanna and Rafe’s journey, and firmly believe you will be too. So let’s give you an overview!

Avyanna has longed to be a Dragon Rider ever since she could remember, forgoing any other bond in her quest to forge one with a dragon on Hatching Day. But when this dream turns to dust, Avyanna’s must change tactics as she seeks to become a warrior on the war front. Forced to interact with the returned General Rafe Shadow Slayer, Avyanna is determined to prove herself amongst the troops he’s training. But what happens when Rafe pushes her beyond her limits? What secrets are they both hiding, from each other and the world? And can Avyanna force fate to change its path?

Forcing Fate HAS to be on your TBR if you love fantasy romance!

Happiness Boost:

I don’t ask for much, just morally grey men… And a fiery heroine who doesn’t know when to quit. Does Forcing Fate deliver? You bet it does! Hold onto something when you read this fantasy romance, dear bookworms. Because these characters are going to take you on one of the most frantic and heart-pounding adventures you’ve ever been on! With Avyanna believing she’s broken and Rafe hiding a secret which could change *everything*, this duo’s fight for a better world is truly epic. I am completely in love with them!

Frick does more than just give us a bunch of characters to love. The world building is fabulous, because even though Forcing Fate may give me vibes of Eragon by Christopher Paolini, A Kingdom of Exiles by S. B. Nova, or even Blood & Steel by Helen Scheuerer? Frick has crafted a unique new realm all her own, which I am eager to explore! I need to know why some dragons turn wild. And how can anyone stop the Shadows? The list of theories and questions goes on and I need answers over here, glitterbugs!

Woman in a man’s world. Enemies to lovers. Found family. Mentor/mentee… I could tick *so* many tropes with this story. But if this handful doesn’t tempt you, I honestly don’t know why you’re here. Because this is pure gold! Seriously! Forcing Fate has upended my world, and there’s a thrilling cliffhanger at the end of this book which just makes me all the more determined to love the characters extra hard. Dearest bookworms, if you love fantasy romance, this *must* go on your TBR list. It just has to!

Downside:

No downside, because I will even love a cliffhanger when it’s done right! And oh my goodness, does Forcing Fate get it right…

Final Thoughts:

Forcing Fate by indie author M. A. Frick is a fantasy romance brimming with dragons, darkness and a love which could burn the whole world down… I am so in love with this story, I actually had to wait days to write this review because I’m still struggling to form words.
