A massive thank you goes to the wonderful Miranda Lyn, for letting me read an e-ARC of Hide the Witches! This dark romantasy is a book lover’s dream, but before I say anything more? I need to make a confession… I was thoroughly spoiled months ago, with this ARC. And I kept putting off my review, because I was unsure if my words could do justice to this tale. Do I still feel this way? Yes. But here we go regardless!
Syneca Black learned long ago how to hide her secrets. If she hadn’t, she wouldn’t have survived living in Grimora for very long. Witches burn, and those who are unfortunate enough to wield fire? The Hunters ensure they burn even faster… But when Syn’s friend goes missing, accused of a crime she never committed, it’s time for Syn to step out of the shadows. Even as Syn takes an oath which will see her bound to an infamous Hunter, can she find a way to save the sister of her heart? Or will Wickett’s discerning gaze see past every lie Syn tries to tell? And in the end, is their enmity even the biggest obstacle in Syn’s quest, or is it from someone else, weaving the threads of fate?

Happiness Boost:
Hide the Witches is the best witchy romantasy of the year. Let’s just put that out into the world right now, because yes I said it in an Instagram post, but it needs to be reiterated. The *only* book I can think of that may be able to topple it off this pedestal? Is the sequel. Because yes, I know Miranda will both hurt our hearts and put us out of our misery with another release later this year. Trust me, she’s great at multitasking like this!
One of the things I love most about Miranda’s stories? How easily she weaves a spell of secrets, desperate hope, and a heartache that will tear us to shreds with every word we read. Miranda Lyn doesn’t know how to write a gentle tale. And yes, that’s a compliment! Syneca’s story hit my soul with the force of a thousand bricks, and I welcomed it. Hide the Witches is a beautifully intense dark romantasy, and every single step on this journey is fraught with peril. Will I be hovering near Miranda’s social media, ready for every single reveal about the sequel? You bet your buttons I am!
Within this incredible tale, we get a found family of misfits, as well as a griffin sidekick whom I adore with all my heart. But then Miranda decided to up the ante and add all sorts of other goodies to Hide the Witches, like banter for days and a romance which could set the whole world on fire. I am telling you, this book needs to be the next one you read. I could go on.. But for now? Just please go grab a copy! Trust your Anne. I’ve got your back.
Downside:
I don’t think it’s possible for there to ever be a downside with Miranda’s stories!

Hide the Witches by Miranda Lyn is a dark, witchy romantasy full of desperate choices, twisted secrets, and a loyal found family. I really, really want book two in my hands right now.
