I’ll be honest, Hollow Court by Robin D. Mahle & Elle Madison has been waiting for me to write my review for a while… I’d gobbled up this YA fantasy romance so quickly, there was no time until now to wax poetic about it! So obviously, that’s a good sign right? Let’s give you an overview!
Galina desperately needs to escape the kingdom, away from an abusive fiancé who refuses to see her as more than a silent puppet. But her only chance at freedom? Is to collect on a life debt and fake a betrothal to another man. When Davin agrees to the charade, it’s not out of love… This might just be the best chance he has at saving his own interests as a Lochlannian royal. But will this betrothal ensure Galina’s safety? Or will the political unrest in her new home bring about an even greater disaster? And what happens if Galina and Davin stop fighting each other?
Happiness Boost:
Galina is a fierce FMC, but that’s not to say she’s a warrior. I love that within Hollow Court, we get a heroine whose strengths lie in her quick wit and ability to outsmart those around her! Robin and Elle have created a fast-paced story which whisks the reader away on an incredible adventure… And just when you think you know how this fantasy romance will go? A new direction is taken and we’re once again racing to find answers! How could that be anything but a happiness boost?
Oh glitterbugs… You know I love a found family trope! And in Hollow Court? I know they’re Davin’s family, but it truly feels like Galina has found her own slice of happiness with them too, regardless of what happens between them. They are extremely loyal and loving, so much so that I want to adopt them for my own, too! And can we talk humour? I think Davin’s father has one of the best lines in the whole story, but I won’t tell you what it is. I know, I know, I’m cruel aren’t I? But you know how I feel about giving away potential spoilers!
Hollow Court is a book which will just make you feel *good*. There’s many tales out there which will break your heart, or have you struggling to breathe through the danger within the pages. But how many can you say just make you feel good? Like a cosy kind of hug, which wraps around you even as it delivers a riveting read? This YA fantasy is one of those. And that’s a huge happiness boost for me.
Downside:
No downside for me, this was magical!

Hollow Court by Robin D. Mahle & Elle Madison is a delightful fantasy romance featuring intrigue, found family and a second chance at love.
