Diving into Immortal Souls by Tyrolin Puxty has been such an exciting journey, because ever since I finished its predecessor, Immortal Cells? I’ve been wondering what became of Malin and her ragtag crew in this YA fantasy realm! So before I go any further, let’s give you an overview glitterbugs!
Malin has finally escaped the Immortal Cells, but now that she’s in the wild with Taylin and Rune? It’s impossible to find safety. Running away from the prison doesn’t mean they can outpace a brewing war, and Malin needs to gather allies. Because if she doesn’t? There will be no peace, for anyone. With her siblings on opposing sides, will Malin be able to choose the right path? Is it possible to make allies with differing races like ogres? And how is a dead immortal tracking Malin’s every movement?
Happiness Boost:
I did *not* expect everything that was thrown Malin’s way, but goodness doesn’t our immortal princess show she’s up for a challenge! Is she comfortable, being in charge? Absolutely not. Would she rather just hide away from the world, instead of fighting for peace? Of course! But that’s why I love her. Malin is the very definition of a reluctant heroine, and I adore how Tyrolin has made her so relatable.
You should know by now that I really love when a story gives us banter and unexpected humour in dark times. And let me tell you right now, Immortal Souls does this with ease! Rune is still a favourite character of mine, for all that he gives us in this series. But who knew Taylin also had it in her?! There’s a few surprises along the way with our crew, and it has been a rollercoaster of a ride. Yes that’s a happiness boost!
The magic system in this YA fantasy is still a unique one to me, even with the amount of fantasy I love to read! The ability to swap immortality is a really distinctive plot device, and when you’re frantically scanning pages, wondering who has immortality because of bad things happening? That’s a huge plus. Tyrolin made some incredible choices in Immortal Souls and every single time it has paid off!
Downside:
Have I loved Immortal Souls? Yes! So there’s no downside here from me.

Immortal Souls by Tyrolin Puxty is a wonderful YA fantasy featuring found family and a truly epic quest! If you’re after a fantasy with a brilliant plot, fascinating characters and no spice?
