It’s well and truly time for my June 2025 Books Recap, so let’s firstly address the elephant in the room… If you were thinking I’d completed my teeny tiny June Book Goals list? You’ll once again be disappointed. I know, I know. I can picture the disappointment on your face already! And honestly Iron Flame will be thinking it’s never getting a spot on the blog. Who knows, maybe it’s right about that! But let’s have a chat about books anyway…

Have you ever had a month where you need to just re-centre yourself, and re-read old favourites? Since coming home from BABE25, that’s by and large what I’ve done. And as I also needed to dive into a copy of what I’m calling SISM (IYKYK), that left very little time to read anything else. But never fear! The Crown of the Last Fae Queen: Maham Fatemi
For those of you who have been following me (or the amazing Helen Scheuerer) on Instagram, you’ll have already seen these photos from BABE25. But if you haven’t? This was the first time Helen and I could meet in person, even though we’ve been friends for years. And let me tell you, I definitely don’t want to go another seven years before we catch up again! It was the biggest joy to finally see Helen, and I’m so glad I made the trek down to Sydney with a couple of friends. ♥
By rights I should include a BABE25 book haul photo, but as I’ve had to hit the ground running with a few things? They’re just calmly sitting at the foot of one of my bookshelves instead. Don’t ask me where they’re going either, as I have no idea. That’s Future Anne’s problem!
And the June Favourite Read Goes To…
For my June 2025 Books Recap, it’s been a tricky choice. I adore everything about the two ARCs I received, and I honestly don’t know how to pick between them. Do I have to?? There was such a sweetness to Heliacle Rising by C. C. Davie, even in the midst of the dark fantasy romance. And The Crown of the Last Fae Queen by Maham Fatemi left my heart in absolute shreds (which is a good thing, I promise). I think I need to admit defeat and say they’re both equally incredible, and you need to add them to your TBR. Everybody wins, right?! Aside from the TBR stack, which I have no doubt is getting incredibly chaotic.
