Well friends, my October 2025 Books Recap is here! But I’m giving you fair warning, don’t expect for me to have met all of my October Book Goals… Life threw everything at me this month, and book reviews well and truly fell by the wayside.
For those who don’t know, my little floof (aka Lu) became extremely ill earlier this month—most likely due to a head injury that we think got infected. There was a rush to an emergency vet, multiple tests, even overnight stays between that practice and our regular vet when he got back home from a holiday. Everything and anything as the culprit for her severe downturn was discussed and dissected, including cancer. Did I function well during all of this? Not at all. Since saying goodbye to George (my sunshine floof) earlier this year due to kidney disease, particularly after the battle to cure his hyperthyroidism, it’s safe to say I don’t cope well when Lu gets unwell. And I was seriously thinking we’d have to say goodbye to her, that’s how bad things had become.
However, I’m delighted to say that Lu has improved tremendously since that adventure—her head wound is still healing, but she is full of beans and able to move as if she was never a pitiful drunken sailor. So although October has continued to be taken up with tending to her, I can’t regret that, not even when it means I’ve neglected my bookish duties. And now I hear you asking what *have* you reviewed, Anne? I’m so glad you asked…
