A huge thank you goes to Anne Mollova, for letting me read an e-ARC of Seer of Strands! This is the final instalment in the YA fantasy trilogy, The Trianid, and you can see my reviews for the previous two books here. Did I go into this finale with huge expectations? I certainly did. Were they met? Absolutely! But let’s give you an overview before I fangirl too much, shall we?
Fractured and unable to repair what was broken, the Trianid have gone their separate ways now that the darklings have been vanquished. But the world demands balance, and if they fail to reunite? Darkness will fall, and destructive magic will consume not only the kingdom of Dúramair, but the entire realm. The only hope that the faerie king can give, is that the Seer of Strands must weave her magic over the very strands of fate itself. Can Lirianna do this, not only for Faer Dinnán, but for her friends? Or is a destructive magic rising within her about to destroy them all? The past will not stay buried, and there is always a price to pay…
Happiness Boost:
Seer of Strands is a YA fantasy full of broken hearts, devastating choices and a resilient hope that flies in the face of fate. Am I a fan? You better believe I am! Anne has crafted such an epic finale with this ensemble cast, with every character getting their time in the spotlight. New foes arise, and the Trianid must pivot to face what could be their most challenging enemy yet. And with this occurring when they’re at their very lowest, with shattered trust between at least two of the trio? This journey was never going to be an easy one, and I love it all the more for that.
Within this YA fantasy, the plot revolves around an ancient tale of love and loss, and Lirianna is unwillingly swept up into its vortex. It is in this third instalment of the trilogy that we truly see Lirianna’s character shine, and I can tell you now that it was *amazing*. I adore her ability to focus on giving rather than taking, on her softness with those whom she loves, and her ability to work out puzzles that have stood the test of time. She is more than just the Seer of Strands, and I really enjoyed how she was reminded of that during this entire tale.
Can we talk about how much this book is a breath of fresh air right now?! Anne’s ability to conjure up an epic quest (and a cast of such lovable characters) is exactly what I’ve been needing recently. I was mesmerised from start to finish. If you love tales like Inkheart by Cornelia Funke, Fablehaven by Brandon Mull, or even N. C. Scrimgeour’s Sea of Souls Saga? I think you’ll fall in love with this trilogy!
Downside:
There is absolutely no downside for Seer of Strands. Yes, I cried while reading this book, but that’s just a sign of a great story!
Final Thoughts:
Seer of Strands by Anne Mollova is the perfect YA fantasy finale to The Trianid, featuring an epic quest and lost love. It has been such a joy to read about these characters, and I honestly cannot recommend Anne’s writing highly enough. If you love YA epic fantasy?
