“Let them see your scars. Let them see your strength.”

Clare Sager

Let’s make one thing clear: the Kickstarter campaign for Stolen Threadwitch Bride by Clare Sager is why I now have yet another auto-buy indie author. Before I spotted the Kickstarter for this beautiful edition (as well as the extra goodies), I had clearly been living in ignorant bliss. But now? My TBR list has grown something shocking. How do authors create magic like this?!

Ariadne is a threadwitch with a dying dream, one which completely shatters when a fae lord comes to collect the Tithe. Because Lysander has chosen her to return to Elfhame with him, and there’s literally only one option available to her: to accept. But when Lysander requests her threadwitch skills for a deadly project, Ariadne isn’t sure if she can trust his motives. Although fae can’t lie, they’re renowned for twisting the truth. Can Ariadne escape from this forest and the centuries-old bargain of the Tithe? What happens when she starts to fall for the fae lord who stole her away from everything she ever knew? Is it possible to long for freedom, even as Ariadne sews her way into the very heart of a volatile political landscape?

Hardcover copy of Stolen Threadwitch Bride by Clare Sager is on a white bookshelf, in front of books by Rae Else and other fantasy authors. A midnight blue polymer clay dragon by Dirty Paws Australia sits to the right of the book.
I’m in love with Clare Sager’s writing, and I suspect my midnight dragon by Dirty Paws Australia is too!

Happiness Boost:

Stolen Threadwitch Bride is one of those books you can just absolutely devour. Of course if I had any self-control I’d have savoured the story, but how could I stop once I started?! This *beautiful* fantasy romance is an impeccable enemies to lovers tale, complete with a cute-as-a-button companion in the form of a hellhound named Fluffy. Clare’s created a story which has a starry, magical quality to it… And I couldn’t be happier that this delicately woven fantasy has found a way into my heart.

Do you want me to list all the ways I love this book? Because we’d be here forever… And I’m trying *so* hard to be coherent right now! Stolen Threadwitch Bride is about being brave in the face of insurmountable odds, finding your courage to speak, and learning to trust what your heart is telling you. This is a powerful, mesmerising fantasy romance and I honestly want everyone to read this story. Because although we escape into the fae realm within this tale, I feel like I brought so many messages away from reading it.

If you had an inkling that Fluffy was going to be a happiness boost… Congratulations! You know me really well. Maybe too well? But Fluffy is just one part of this, because I’m also including the Lady of the Lake in this mention. Clare gives us every opportunity to look *beyond* stereotypes. A hellhound doesn’t have to be a scary character. The Lady doesn’t have to just be a plot device for deception, pain or sorrow. We are told, again and again, to look into the heart of things. Because it’s in there that the truth really lies. Honestly, hats off to this author. I’m in love with everything about Stolen Threadwitch Bride.

No downside! How could I fault something so beautifully written?!
