As soon as I knew The Corrupted Prince by S. A. Gonsalves was about to release, did I go back and read the first book in the series again? Of course I did! And truth be told, my love for the dark fantasy hasn’t wavered, ever since I posted my review for it two years ago. But before we go any further, let’s give you an overview for this second instalment in The Bonds That Bind Us, shall we?
Desperate to escape King Artaxiad before he makes Sulwyn his Queen in every way, Sulwyn is now faced with a perilous decision… Does she work against the Empire from within, or escape while she can, in order to fight another day? Determined to help her, Galahad knows that he’s already on borrowed time. His powers are growing, and he can no longer control them. With the fierce Daijiro also working to free Sulwyn, is it possible for these two warriors to join forces for the greater good? What happens when the Empire refuses to let Sulwyn go? Can anyone fight against this great evil of their time and actually win?

Let me be very honest with you, glitterbugs… Ever since I finished reading The Corrupted Prince? I’ve been struggling so, so much to find the words for this dark fantasy. Why? Because I love everything about it, although I know you’ll want more than just that summary from yours truly! What this story does (and does so extremely well) is dive ever deeper into a terrifying, tumultuous world of pain and rage. And when you couple that with a fight for justice and a better world? I. Ate. This. Up. I honestly couldn’t stop reading! Who needs sleep when there’s a story like this in your life?!
Within The Corrupted Prince, we’re treated to a found family banter that left me positively chortling. When banter is added to a tale like this one, where Gonsalves deftly entwines heart and pain into the most beautiful of mosaics? You know you’re going to be in for the most incredible adventure! And if you’re wondering what my absolute favourite moment was, all I can say is that it involves the smell of a candle… You’ll have to read the book to find out more than that! I’m not even a little bit sorry to tease you like that.
The Corrupted Prince is a brilliantly constructed dark fantasy, with an epic tragedy unfolding at the very heart of it all. Add to that the complex relationships being navigated, such as the one between Sulwyn and Daijiro? I’m telling you right now, your heart will be a mess by the end of this tale. But I promise that that’s a *very* good thing! I’m going to be on pins and needles, waiting for what comes next for these characters.

No downside! How could there be anything negative to say about this beautiful book?!

The Corrupted Prince by S. A. Gonsalves is a dark fantasy full of terror, pain and a fierce hope against all odds. I’m still thinking I need to write a better review than this, but honestly my mind can’t fathom how to perfectly encapsulate all that’s within this incredible story. Just… Get this series. Okay?
