Let me count the ways I love The Ever King by LJ Andrews… I’ll be honest glitterbugs, the number is actually infinite. So you can probably guess what’s ahead in this review, right? Lots and lots of fangirling, if I’m sharing all my secrets today. But before I start, let’s give you an overview for this dark fantasy romance!
For a decade, the realm has known peace, ever since the Chasm was created to bar the Sea Fae from leaving the Ever Kingdom. But Erik Bloodsinger is intent on revenge for being trapped beneath the waves, and when the barrier is broken? He will stop at nothing to hurt his enemy, even if that means stealing the Night King’s daughter away. But when Livia is taken, can she find a way to soften the Ever King’s heart? Is it possible that their shared history has only ever been a lie? Will the Bloodsinger’s desire for revenge help heal a dying kingdom, or only accelerate its demise?
Happiness Boost:
The Ever King has been sitting on my Kindle for *much* too long, and I’m kicking myself I didn’t read this sooner! This dark fantasy romance has completely captivated me, and I’m in awe of how beautifully LJ writes. This story is perfection, and I don’t say that lightly. The plot is intricate without being overwhelming, the tumultuous bond between Livia and Erik is mesmerising… And, dare I say it, the world building is one of the best I have *ever* read. I said what I said!
I’ve always loved a tale full of dark magic and heartache, but throw in the dichotomy of fractured and strong families? As well as seriously huge revelations which will leave you reading long past midnight? I honestly devoured The Ever King as if it was going to disappear before my very eyes if I didn’t get a move on! You know when you love a story so much, you’re struggling to find the words? That’s my problem right now, but I didn’t want to wait any longer to talk about this incredible novel!
Is it weird to have a happiness boost solely for nicknames? My heart felt like it was brimming with sparkles and starlight, every time I read the words ‘little bird’. Livia and Erik… You have immediately become a favourite bookish duo of mine. Have I got the next two books in this series on my Kindle, ready to go? YES. Have I also snagged physical copies of all three, because I’ve loved this book so much? Glitterbugs.. Do I look like a fool? Of *course* it’s another yes! I want to say so, so many more things about The Ever King, but let’s be real: you don’t need my waffling, you just need to read this absolutely gorgeous story if you haven’t already done so!
Downside:
I am accepting *no* criticism of this fantasy romance! If you dislike LJ’s writing? All I can tell you is that you’re wrong. Respectfully.

The Ever King by indie author LJ Andrews is a truly phenomenal dark fantasy romance, full of pirates, powerful magic and sacrifice.
