I knew I’d be diving into The Ever Queen by LJ Andrews sooner rather than later, because The Ever King had stolen my heart. And, as you can see, I was right! This dark fantasy romance is the conclusion of Erik and Livia’s tale in The Ever Seas series, and what a finale it’s been… But first, let’s give you an overview!
Livia has been taken captive, in a bid to sever the power of the Ever King and bring about his ruin. Determined to find her way back to Erik Bloodsinger, Livia must embrace all that it means to be the first Ever Queen. Because if she doesn’t? Livia is doomed to only ever be a pawn in this game. Elsewhere, Erik will stop at nothing to reunite with his Songbird, including sacrificing himself at the feet of old enemies of the Ever. The Ever King is going to shed blood. And he won’t stop. Happiness Boost:
The Ever Queen is every bit as magical, powerful and incredibly emotional as I expected… And I was expecting a lot! This glorious fantasy romance just keeps packing *all* of the things into these pages, and I love how every character has their part to play. I’ve fallen even harder for Erik and Livia’s relationship in this second instalment in The Ever Seas series, and with their found family at their side? This force is unmatched! I was a little bit devastated when I came to the end, truth be told.
Who loves a legacy series?! I know I do! I haven’t even read The Broken Kingdoms yet, but I know I’m going to adore every book in it. The fact that this series features characters from that one, even as it focuses on their children? It’s like getting an unlimited supply of your favourite dessert! This is *delicious*. I could feel the history, the camaraderie… And I became so ridiculously emotional every time I witnessed the interactions between generations. Please protect these characters at all costs. Okay? Okay!
You know what else I love about The Ever Queen? I know, I know… We all know I’m going to say ‘aside from everything’. But I adore that we actually see the cost of magic, particularly dark magic. How many times have we seen dark magic just be brushed aside, with no consequences? So. Many. Times. But in this fantasy romance? The price of such magic is *steep*. I love that we don’t just get sunshine and roses. Instead, we get the dark seas, fire and brimstone. We get reality in this gorgeous fantasy romance, and who wouldn’t want that?!
Downside:
I’m such a fan of this story, there’s no downside for me!
Final Thoughts:
The Ever Queen by LJ Andrews is a dark fantasy romance of deadly magic, betrayals and a love that will last for eternity. Do I have The Mist Thief ready to go? You better believe it!
