“The High Mountain Court deserved its vengeance.”
A. K. Mulford
Overview:
The High Mountain Court by A. K. Mulford was the perfect fantasy to escape into this week! Before I get lost in my fangirling, I will say that I’d probably recommend only ages 18+ read this NA fantasy, but it’s so worth a read. I’m actually a little embarrassed to admit that The High Mountain Court has been sitting in my TBR fort for months, but we all know there’s more where that came from…
Remy is a red witch, which is a problem because red witches are being slaughtered by the Northern Court King. As possibly the last red witch in existence, Remy’s learned how to hide. But when Prince Hale of the Eastern Court requests Remy’s assistance in stopping the Northern King’s bloody expansion, she finds it’s hard to say no to the idea of freedom. Will Remy and Hale be able to trust each other for this mission? What other secrets is Remy hiding from everyone? Is King Vostemur already too powerful to go against?

My beautiful night sky dragon from Dirty Paws Australia adored it too.
Happiness Boost:
The High Mountain Court lets the reader experience everything without needing us to wade through a tonne of information. I don’t know about you, but sometimes I really need a read like this! I was caught up in the danger and emotion Mulford gives us, instead of having to decipher everyone’s history. And there’s so very much danger within the pages of this NA fantasy! It kept me spellbound from start to finish.
This book is about found family, fated mates and a ragtag crew. The perfect combination! My heart was in my throat in parts of The High Mountain Court, because I wanted everyone to be okay. There are also surprises, which I didn’t see coming. I really love when that happens, because then I know for sure I’m in for an exciting adventure!
Mulford give us an incredible and very convincing theme of friendship throughout this tale, which can (and does) tug at the heart. The High Mountain Court also highlights the sacrifices people will make when it’s a loved one in danger; the cost of love can be steep, but we are shown within these pages that it’s always worth the sacrifice. I did enjoy this reminder, even though it hurt!
Downside:
I don’t have a downside! Seriously!
Final Thoughts:
The High Mountain Court by A. K. Mulford is a beautiful, enchanting NA fantasy. There’s dangerous plots afoot and Remy is someone I’m cheering for, all the way. I’m really glad that I can dive straight into the next book (The Witches’ Blade), as it’s already here in my book fort! If you love stories about the fae, deadly machinations and powerful magic? Do yourself a favour and get this book. Happy reading, glitterbugs!
