When Unraveled by Abbey Fox released earlier this month, I dived straight into this gothic fantasy romance with no hesitation! I’m incredibly slow to write my review, but please don’t let that dissuade you—this incredible dark fantasy is definitely one you need to place on your TBR. In fact, let’s just nudge it towards the top, okay? Okay. Now before I go any further, let’s give you an overview…
Mia has spent her life as a librarian, uncovering secrets and learning magic when it is forbidden to do so. Happiness Boost:
We all love a Beauty and the Beast retelling, right?! Especially when it has a gothic twist! I know I should’ve savoured reading this beautiful book, but I honestly devoured Unraveled. And you know what? I have absolutely no regrets at how fast I did it! I could *not* look away. This beautiful gothic fantasy romance is full of dark charm, mysterious bargains, and harrowing truths. I am a fan, to say the least!
Glitterbugs… Normally I’m not one to talk about nicknames as a happiness boost, because as adorable as they are, they make up such a tiny piece of the puzzle. But for Unraveled? I need to mention the one given to Mia, because every time it was used my heart just melted. He calls her Monster. And I know, those of you who haven’t read this dark fantasy romance yet won’t understand why this needs to be a happiness boost all on its own. But did you read where I said my heart melted? BECAUSE IT DID. Every. Single. Time. Mia and Ash are adorable and I’m here to tell you that they must be protected at all costs. Take my heart, take my soul, just don’t take them away from each other or from me. Okay?
Even knowing this is a gothic fantasy romance retelling of Beauty and the Beast, I love that Abbey adds so much depth and life to it: from the roses and the mirrors, to the grotesque evil which threatens to overturn everything. Because this isn’t just about Ash, it’s also about his people and their suffering. It’s about experiments, tested loyalties, and questioning humanity at its very core. Unraveled is a story of redemption and I’m so in love with it.
Downside:
There is no downside for me!

Unraveled by Abbey Fox is a gothic fantasy romance retelling of Beauty and the Beast, full of dark charm and deadly bargains.
