What Is Dark Within Me packs *so* much within its pages! Although there’s vibes of Laura Thalassa’s The Bargainer and even some ACOTAR by Sarah J. Maas, this dark fantasy takes us on such a unique and perilous journey. Black highlights the strength of a friendship forged between two lost souls, and how secrets have a way of twisting the heart once they’re revealed. With this enemies to lovers tale throwing so many surprises the reader’s way, it’s honestly full of non-stop adventure!
Can we talk about how a dark fantasy romance is even *better* with a sprinkle of comedy? I hadn’t expected it, but Garm quickly became a favourite of mine! And truthfully, when there’s so much darkness in the world, we need a bit of light. This is such a beautiful example of found family and I badly want more. I know, I know… What Is Dark Within Me hasn’t even released yet. But it’s okay to be greedy for more of an amazing series, right?!
Within this dark fantasy, we dive deep into the consequences of making a pact with the devil, as well as how everlasting love can be the downfall of everything. And can we talk about the monsters?! They are so creepy and I *love* it! Their power is terrifying, and Aleja’s desperation to fight with everything she possesses is such an inspiration. Her gritty loyalty, her never say die attitude… There’s no better feeling than reading about an FMC like her!
